Inspired by quintessential and antiquated New Jersey diners, ‘The Best Diner Lamp’ evokes the blanket aroma of 'the world’s best' burnt coffee, and the comforting nostalgia of a space unchanged by the passage of time. Constructed from spent coffee grounds, Reishi Mycelium, and reclaimed vintage lace, this piece is an homage to the timeless dining experience of stale coffee atop lace doilies. Whether illuminated by its Smart-LED bulb or unplugged, the lamp is always interacting with the space surrounding it, casting shadows from incoming sunlight or reflecting its own form from within. ‘The Best Diner Lamp’ is a visual exploration of the duality of growth and decay, nourishment and ignorance.
